Learning disabilities (LD) are disorders that affect the ability to understand or use spoken or written language, mathematical calculations, coordinate movements and direct attention.
Common types of LD:
Dyslexia - Difficulty in reading, writing, spelling and speaking
Dyscalculia - Difficulty in doing math problems, money and time concept
Dysgraphia - Difficulty with writing, spelling and organizing ideas
Dyspraxia (sensory integration disorder) – Difficulty with fine motor skills, eye hand coordination and manual dexterity
Dysphasia/ Aphasia – Difficulty with language (understanding spoken language and reading comprehension)
Auditory processing disorder – Difficulty hearing differences between sounds
